From the moment myself, my brother , my cousin and my friend set foot on Pakistani soil, we received a warm welcome that went far beyond commercial friendliness. We had the feeling of joining friends we haven't seen for a long time, but in no time there is a renewed sense that we never left. 

Whether it was at the hotel, or at the mosque or just on the street, everyone was willing to share some of their own past, concerns and cool moments. The local agent of Redspokes  also contributed greatly to this. Besides our tour guide, Faisan, his father, also took the trouble to meet us personally during the first day in Islamabad. He also provided a nice closing meal at his flat in Islamabad which should not have been at all, but which touched us.

Northern Pakistan is a beautiful region for cycling, both the area between Askole and Gilgit, as well as the Bagrote and Shimshal valleys and the Karakoram Highway itself between Gilgit and Passu. So the nature also impressed next tot the people. There’s still the plan to  go back to Gilgit and Cycle to Bishkek in Kyrgistan via Kashgar in China. This means that some day we’ll go back and since I’m 58 , I’ve to hurry before it’s to late !
